If you’re in school then studying and being consistent may prove to be a challenge for you.
I mean, how many of us actually enjoy studying ?
That’s okay though, because I got you.
As a university student, these are some helpful study tips I wish I knew sooner.
So let’s have a hot girl/guy semester besties !
1) Timetable
Timetabling your study sessions will help you stick to a routine and stay consistent.
It will also help you stay more organized especially if you timetable your days, including your classes and whatever things you may have to get done.
This also allows you to study smarter instead of harder.
You can have a life outside of academia, you just need to know the right way to do it.
If you timetable the same amount of hours to study everyday, this will reduce the amount of work you do everyday but it will also accumulate.
2) Organized
Keeping your desk or workspace clean is important.
In addition to staying organized, it also makes you feel motivated and willing to study.
3) Flashcards
Using flashcards is a form of active studying as well as active recall.
This has been proven to be more efficient than note taking and simply reading and highlighting.
It helps by allowing you to test your memory and seeing how much you can retain.
This has personally helped me and allowed me to study for shorter periods of time and do better on exams.
4) Visuals
This may not be for everyone, but if you’re a visual person this would be useful to you.
Make vision boards with graphics and pictures then annotate them.
This would help appeal to you and help you retain more instead of forcing yourself to sit and read.
A key part of studying is making sure you use methods that work for you.
5) Enough sleep and healthy eating
Staying awake all night and not eating properly will not help you do better.
This is a bad habit we all tend to do during exam season in particular.
We are already into the habit of pulling all nighters but being sleep deprived is not going to help us retain any work.
Eating healthier will also help you by making your body feel much better.
We are able to perform better when we are well rested and taking care of our bodies by sustaining ourselves.
6) Reviewing topics after class
Reviewing topics after a class helps in making sure you understood everything done in that class.
This will help you retain more of that topic because you don’t wait for a long period of time to try and understand.
When you wait and works starts piling up you tend to get more confused.
7) Pre reading
Pre reading before classes ensure you go into a class not completely lost.
You’ll already have a basic understanding of what is about to be taught .
You can write down what questions you would like to ask in that class or make a note of whatever confuses you and clear it up.
8) Hydrate –
We only hydrate with coffee and I myself am very guilty of being a coffee-holic.
However, when studying it is important to stay hydrated because water has been found to increase concentration.
So In between your coffee or tea, make sure to drink your water.
Sustaining your body physically will also help mentally.

9) Mindset
Mindset is one of the greatest tools we have in shaping our reality.
Staying motivated and pushing through no matter how hard things get is key in attaining success.
So push through the long nights and remember your goal.
You got this !
10) Relevant study breaks
Intense study for long periods of time will do you more harm than good.
Trying to lengthen your attention span will only lead to burn out.
Look out for the signs of burnout and give your body a break instead of pushing for longer.
These tips may not work for everyone, but it’s important to try what works best for you.
When you figure that out, be sure to stick with it.
And don’t worry, you got this !
