This post is all about the healthy habits you can implement in your daily routine to help create a more balanced lifestyle.
Best Healthy Habits To Try
1) Eat Healthier
Eating healthy is one of the best ways to start a healthy lifestyle. You may be thinking that this means giving up all your favourite fast foods, snacks, and desserts, right? But you’d be delighted to know that you don’t have to. Simply adding fruits and/or vegetables to some of your favourite foods is a great way to gradually start eating healthy.
Fruit bowls have become a staple in my diet and I swear by it.
There are two big reasons why this is a great idea! Firstly, fruits and vegetables give you that extra boost of energy so you don’t feel as tired during the day. Secondly, they are very versatile. You can eat them on their own as a snack, or with any of your favourite meals.
2) Movement
Movement does not mean working out in the gym five days a week. Movement can simply mean stretching, taking a walk, playing a sport, or any activity that gets you up and moving. This is a great healthy habit that you should implement into your life.
Personally, my preference is yoga and my body thanks me for it later.
Moving your body is great not only because it keeps you healthy but it is a great way to reduce stress, recharge and focus and give back to yourself.
3) Do not look at your phone screen as soon as you wake up
Technology is something we can never get away from, as many of us have jobs, school, and businesses online. This makes us prone to looking at our phone screens as soon as we wake up, whether it’s scrolling through Instagram and Tik Tok or simply checking emails. What we see on our phones is what sets the tone for our day.
I myself struggle with this sometimes but the more you do it, the easier it gets.
This is effective because it gives you more control in setting the tone of your day. By simply not seeing certain things on social media, your day could already feel and be better.
4) Journaling
Journaling may seem boring and unhelpful but is a healthy coping mechanism to express your feelings.
After I started journaling, I was able to deal with all of my feelings.
This is a great way to express yourself and not feel overwhelmed. Feeling overwhelmed directly impacts your lifestyle and this is a great way to counteract that.
5) Allowing yourself to relax
We often feel that we always need to be hustling and on the go. However, this is how we forget to actually live and be present. Slowing down and allowing your body to rest is one of the most important things.
At times I overworked myself which led to burnout and I realized that I had to take care of myself to feel and be my best.
One of the biggest reasons this is important is because you cannot accomplish things if you are burnt out. Listening to your body and allowing yourself to rest is an important way in feeling your best and making your life better.
6) Drinking more water
This sounds like a simple enough thing to do throughout your day but can be so much harder. Drinking water throughout your day can seem like a task sometimes, especially with all the other drinks that we see. However, once you start you don’t go back.
Starting this habit doesn’t mean you have to cut out all your other favourite drinks, but after your drink make sure to get in a certain amount of water. Coke was one of my favourite drinks but ever since I’ve started drinking more water, I barely feel for any sugary drinks.
Drinking more water is scientifically proven to not just help you physically but also mentally because water stimulates the flow of hormones that releases the feel-good hormones which make you happy. That being said, dehydration will negatively affect so remember to drink your water besties!
7) Mindfulness
Being Mindful is nothing complicated, it’s simply being aware of the things you do in your life. Simply things like understanding your body’s cues, and being conscious of what you eat and the people around you can make a big difference.
I did things on a whim a lot and it brought a lot of toxic energy into my life which drained my energy.
Being mindful helps you to control the type of energy you allow which would allow you to feel better and make your life better overall.
