The topic of self love is one we know and constantly hear, however, understanding it is harder than you think.
After months of going through life changing situations, I knew I had to delve deeper in fully understanding self love so I could apply it to my life.
Therefore, I’ll be sharing some of the basics on starting your self love journey.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG ?
What are we doing wrong? We are not loving ourselves.
I have always thought self love to be a concept I understood…… until I didn’t.
You have to take a step back and evaluate what really affects your energy and the sources of it.
Toxic relationships are all around us no matter what form they take, and the harsh reality is that we all stay in them.
We don’t mind staying in them until we start to not recognize ourselves anymore.
We let them have power over us and let them drain us till we’re empty. Like vessels for their use.
When you decide to choose yourself is when the game changes.
And that one decision starts your self love journey.
THE JOURNEY
You don’t just wake up one day and decide that you love yourself, it’s a hard ongoing process that we constantly have to keep in check.
Your journey starts with YOU.
It’s making hard decisions to leave toxic people behind and it hurts, doesn’t it? Of course it does, we leech on to the people that take our self love away.
Then they have that power over us, and the hardest part is letting go and choosing yourself despite the hurt.
Holding yourself accountable for your mistakes and being brave enough to forgive yourself for those mistakes then pushing forward anyway is one of the most important parts of this journey.
It is allowing yourself to feel your emotions tenfold and accepting them.
You are not broken or weak, you are a flower preparing to bloom. You are a priority, and no one is responsible for loving you but YOU.
Let it go. Set the boundaries. Make peace with yourself. Heal. And the happiness will come.
IDEAS OF SELF LOVE
Once you start doing the inner work, the outer work will come easier.
Do whatever fulfils you and brings you happiness physically, mentally and spiritually.
Drink the tea, do the face mask, read the book.
Feed your soul and body with positive energy.
Even if it’s just taking a break and doing nothing
There’s no wrong way of self care and no one knows your body the way you do.
When you start refocusing the energy to you that’s when you make the decisions to pursue your goals and dreams.
Say your affirmations and reaffirm what is already within you.
Affirmations to start your self love journey:
– Life treats me well and I treat myself well
– I release my attachment to anything that does not serve me, because I am deserving of happiness.
– I hold the key to my own success
– Love starts with me
THE UNIVERSE IS ON YOUR SIDE
You cannot give love to another human or expect the love you deserve when you can’t give it to the body that houses your soul and your soul which is the core of your being.
When you start loving yourself is when you start attracting the people who are worthy of the love you give out.
This when you start attracting all the new opportunities that are meant to be yours.
You are a force to be reckoned with so shift the energy to you and watch your reality change.
Watch the universe work in your favour because you are working in your favour.
You are worthy and you are whole.
The power is already within you.
Keep working on you no matter what comes your way and stick your boundaries.
Try your best not to fall back into toxic cycles. Consistency will get you farther than you thought was possible.
